Thieves break into two JCPS schools

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, KY. (WDRB) -- While most of us were cleaning up from Saturday's storm, thieves were cleaning up inside two Jefferson County public schools.

Someone broke into Central High School and Coleridge Taylor Elementary School.  The alarm systems are connected to the phone system, which was down.

The thieves got into Central through the cafeteria and smashed cash registers inside the Speedmart in the school, only to find they were empty.

Dr. Dan Withers, Central's principal, says, "They just went to every floor and broke into 20 different rooms -- one-fourth of the rooms."

Teachers will do an inventory to see what may have been stolen.  The only thing they know is missing right now is a projector.
