POLICE: Louisville suspect foiled by Suzuki clutch

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Police say he would have gotten away with it, if it hadn't been for the clutch on his blue Suzuki.

A Louisville man has been arrested after police say he was involved in what could be described as a case of severe road rage. According to an arrest report, an officer saw 21-year-old Addiel Rodriquez driving eastbound on Outer Loop near Grade Lane shortly after 8 p.m. Wednesday, speeding at 90 mph in a 45 mph zone.

As the police officer tried to catch up with Rodriquez, the suspect was allegedly driving so recklessly that he almost crashed into another driver.

That's when, police say, Rodriquez got angry and tried to provoke the other driver into fighting.

"He kept pulling up alongside that vehicle and running that vehicle out of its lane," police say. "At one point, he was alongside the vehicle trying to kick the vehicle."

Eventually, Rodriquez stopped his motorcycle and the officer got out of his police vehicle and attempted to make a traffic stop -- but it didn't end there. Police said Rodriquez had one more trick up his sleeve. He was going to make a run for it in his motorcycle.

But it didn't work.

"When he attempted to take off, he popped the clutch and killed the engine," police say.

Rodriquez was taken into custody and charged with speeding 26 miles an hour over the speed limit, reckless driving, driving without an operator's license and disorderly conduct.

Police say he also had a warrant for a previous charge of driving without a license.
