Fanatics Opens Fulfillment Center on National Turnpike
Company Will Hire 600-800 Employees During Peak Season
Louisville, KY (August 22, 2011)—Fanatics, privately owned sports merchandise company headquartered in Jacksonville, Florida, has moved into the Louisville market, with a huge fulfillment center at 9205 National Turnpike and hopes to hire 600-800 employees for the upcoming holiday season.
According to Doug Jaynes, a member of the senior leadership team at the Louisville facility, Fanatics offers the largest selection of officially licensed team and league products found anywhere on the web. The National Turnpike facility will act as the company's professional sports division, customizing jerseys and apparel for the NFL, MLB, NBA, NASCAR and NHL.
When it was announced in 1995 that the Jaguars would put down roots in Jacksonville, Florida, two football-loving brothers opened Football Fanatics in 1995 at a local mall. Quickly recognizing the need for displaced fans around the world to buy merchandise to support their favorite team, they created an e-commerce business in 1997. Today, the brothers still work at the headquarters in Jacksonville and there are now two retail stores in Florida malls, along with the new fulfillment center in Louisville.
Fanatics will begin hiring full-time, seasonal employees immediately to work through the big bowl game in February. Those interested must apply in person from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Friday at 9205 National Turnpike, exit 8 off the Gene Snyder. Jaynes said exceptional employees might be offered permanent jobs at the facility.
First and second shifts are available with hour rates up to $10.25. Second shift earns a 50-cent hourly premium. No experience is necessary, but the applicant must be at least 18-years-old with a high school diploma or GED and have good, basic reading and spelling skills. Employees will be paid while they are training.
