Rally held for Ky. mom, daughter hurt at fair

COLD SPRING, Ky. (AP) -- Hundreds of people have attended a rally to help support a northern Kentucky mother and daughter injured when a stage collapsed at the Indiana State Fair.

Scott Berger told The Kentucky Enquirer that his sister, 34-year-old Shannon Walcott, and her daughter, 10-year-old Jade Walcott, of Erlanger, remain in separate hospitals in Indianapolis.

A benefit for the two was held Saturday night by family and friends at Guys and Dolls in Cold Spring. Organizer Heidi Fore said the $20-per-person benefit that featured live music and a silent auction attracted at least 700 people. She says not all the money has been collected, but she expects to raise about $18,000.

The stage collapsed happened during strong winds at the fair on Aug. 13.
