LOUISVILLE, KY. (WDRB) -- Indiana State Police say a North Vernon woman was seriously injured after falling or jumping to the ground while "car surfing" on Wednesday night.

It happened Wednesday just after 11 p.m., in Muscatatuck County Park.  Officers say 20-year-old Emily Jackson was lying next to County Park Road with serious injuries.

Troopers found out during their investigation that Jackson and a 19-year-old woman were "car surfing" on the roof of a 2001 Subaru station wagon being driven by 19-year-old Kelsi Speer of North Vernon.

That's when Jackson fell or jumped from the station wagon and had serious head injuries.  She was taken to the Jennings County, St-Vincent Hospital in North Vernon, and later flown to the Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.

The crash is still being investigated.
