Judy Green lashes out at colleagues

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Already facing a removal hearing in just a few weeks -- embattled Metro Councilwoman Judy Green is taking on another fight.

The signs are posted that planning is under way for the annual Elliott Park Reunion.

"There's probably 600 people that come to that reunion every year," said Dr. Judy Green.

But despite the giant reminder -- for now -- there's no funding for the event.

"Based on everything else that has happened, I shouldn't be shocked," Green said.

This week, Green broke her silence for the first time in a long time to lash out at her colleagues on metro council's appropriations committee.

"My colleagues would not move that off the agenda to be voted on," Green said.

Green is facing a removal hearing after a metro ethics commission determined she mishandled city money.

"This is not about me, this is about my constituents," Green said.

Now Green believes some of her fellow council members are punishing district one constituents by failing to vote on funding for two organizations -- including the Elliott Park Reunion.

"Everybody held their heads down according to my sources," Green said.

"The two items that she's talking about are being held in committee right now," said Metro Council Spokesperson Tony Hyatt.

Hyatt says Green's items did not move forward because no one at her office was present to answer questions.

"As soon as questions are answered they'll move forward in the process just like any other piece of legislation," said Hyatt.

This all comes just a week after Green's attorney asked for and was denied a continuance in the removal hearing for health reasons.

"I see the handwriting on the wall; I realize that nobody plans to give me a fair hearing by the simple fact that they would not give me another week to get healed," said Green.

Which means the hearing will move forward in less than two weeks. But will Green be there?

"I may have to be there with a breathing machine but I am going to try to be there," said Green.

Green's removal hearing is still scheduled to start on September 12th.
