Rand Paul pushes for vote of no-confidence in Geithner

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, KY. (WDRB) -- Two weeks ago, U.S. Senator Rand Paul told WDRB that Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner should lose his job -- now he's putting his plan into action.

"Timothy Geitner's got to go," Paul said at this year's Ham Breakfast.  "I'm going to call for his resignation as soon as we get back, because they are not doing any of the things that will need to change."

Now Paul has filed a resolution calling for a vote of no-confidence.  Paul says he doesn't believe Geithner will institute policies that will reverse the recent downgrade in the nation's debt rating or curb unemployment.

Paul has been critical of Geithner's efforts to help the ailing economy.  And he's not the only one --Democratic Congressman John Yarmuth tells WDRB he agrees with Paul and thinks Geithner should go.
