LOUISVILLE, KY. (WDRB) -- A local organization is trying to bring attention to the problem of alleged priest sex abuse and coverups in Louisville.
The group is the Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests, also known as SNAP. Thursday, members held a news conference outside St. Therese Catholic Church.
They say for years the church was home to one of the city's worst sex offenders -- Father James Schook. The group also criticized the Archdiocese of Louisville and its chief administrative officer Brian Reynolds for how some of the abuse cases have been handled.
Cal Pfeiffer of SNAP explains, "The people, the Catholics of this community, need to know this information so they can judge for themselves."
SNAP has now included many of the police and court documents online for the public to read.
The archdiocese says it has cooperated fully with the criminal investigaton of Schook and that he stayed at Saint Therese until allegations could be substantiated.
