100th Training Division moves to Ft. Knox

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- While many mourn the 10th anniversary of the September 11th attacks, one army division had cause to celebrate Saturday.

The 100th Training Division is moving to Fort Knox. The division has been located near Bowman Field in Louisville for the past 65 years.

The move allows the army to reduce their expenses while also increasing their efficiency.

"Being located right at Ft. Knox on an active component installation affords us so many things that we would never be able to get in the civilian community," says Brigadier General Patricia Heritsch.

The 100th division trains service members of all military branches in specialized career fields. Saturday it celebrated by casing the division's flag, which was later taken to Fort Knox to unfurl there.

The old headquarters in Louisville will be turned over to the National Guard.
