LOUISVILLE, KY. (WDRB) -- It looks as if the United Auto Workers and General Motors are nearing an agreement on a new contract.

The union's chief negotiator told workers in an email update Friday that bargainers are getting very close to the framework of a deal.

Talks with Chrysler and Ford are also continuing, but at a slower pace as the union concentrates on General Motors.

Any deal with that company would be used as a template for the other two.
