LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The International Day of Peace is this week, and the Muhammad Ali Center is giving families a reason to celebrate early.

Children expressed their creativity by making "peace flowers" that they later put in the center's garden. It's just one of the activities the Ali Center planned leading up to the UN General Assembly's declared Day of Peace this Wednesday.

"Kids and adults can come and enjoy the day and learn a little bit more about peace and respect for other cultures," says Jeanie Kahnke of the Muhammad Ali Center.

Muhammad Ali was named as a UN Messenger of Peace in 1998.

The Ali Center will celebrate the International Day of Peace Wednesday with an evening screening of the movie "Peace One Day."
