Facebook helps find missing LMPD K-9

LOUISVILLE, KY. (WDRB) -- Facebook helped Louisville Metro Police track down a missing member of the force.

Milly the bomb sniffing dog had just moved to a new house in east Louisville with her owner, who is a police officer.  But Milly ran out a screen door and her owner couldn't find her.

It turns out a short time later a woman from Borden, Indiana saw Milly and took her home.  She had no idea the dog was a member of the police department.

Sgt. Robert Biven with the Louisville Metro Police Dept. says, "After the airing of this in the local media, some people called and said they had a person on Facebook who had posted pictures of this dog that looked like the dog being broadcast.  They put us in touch with this person, and within two hours we had the dog back in our custody, and we're very thankful for her assistance."

Police admit Milly had no collar or identification, and plan to change that procedure.
