LOUISVILLE, KY. (WDRB) -- Kentucky's first lady is on a mission to stop a killer -- breast cancer.  Jane Beshear is marking Breast Cancer Awareness month by urging everyone to get screened.

Breast cancer is the second leading cause of death in women in Kentucky.  Beshear wants to remind everyone of the importance of screening year-round.

Beshear says, "We need to be thankful for survivors.  We need to remember those who have lost their battle to cancer and we need to make every effort to prevent this disease and others."

Beshear is also asking that all state employees wear pink on Friday to show support.
