Timeline set to decide whether to close Bradfordsville, Ky. post office

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, KY. (WDRB) -- Bradfordsville, Ky. Mayor David Edelen says the U.S. Postal Service will make a decision in early December whether to close the Bradfordsville post office.

It is one of several thousand across the country being looked at for closure because more people are buying services online.  "We are 67 percent low to moderate income so we have a lot of needs," says Mayor Edelen.  He says those needs include having a post office within walking distance.

He told WDRB's Stephan Johnson last month, "'Cause a lot of our people don't have transportation, a lot of 'em don't read and write, and so it's going to be very difficult for them."

Officials from USPS told that to a meeting of about 200 people last night.  Some townspeople have vowed to appeal any closure decision.
