LOUISVILLE, KY. (WDRB) -- Louisville Orchestra musicians are turning a thumbs down to a compromise contract offered by a mediator. But the orchestra board accepted the deal, which would have cost them more than they could afford.
The mediator presented both parties a contract Thursday that would have added nearly $1 million in pay and benefits for musicians over the next five years. It would also have increased the number performances and the number of salaried musicians from 50 to 54 immediately.
The board president says they now face a challenging alternative to ensure the survival of the Orchestra.
