Shine gives those with disabilities time to celebrate
LOUISVILLE, KY. (WDRB) -- Hundreds dressed to a tee to celebrate Under the Sea at this year's Shine formal.
The event gives adults with developmental disabilities a chance to attend what may be their first prom.
The night began with a walk down the red carpet.
Once inside, prom goers were primped by hair and make-up artists, and some even got a little shine on their shoes.
This wasn't Gregory Smith's first time walking down the red carpet -- he says he had a blast last year, too.
"I just felt like I was in Hollywood, and then I just felt like everyone was cheering you on, and it went by so well. The food is good too," says Smith.
WDRB's Valerie Chinn was there to share the fun as she cheered and welcomed guests at Shine 2011.
