MAS offers free vaccinations

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A clinic hosted by Metro Animal Services gives pet owners a chance to vaccinate their animals for free.

A large crowd turned up at the vaccination clinic to protect their pets from distemper, parvo, and rabies. MAS officials say the clinic goal was to build immunity in pets in the Louisville community. In turn, this can help stop the spread of diseases when animals are sent to MAS.

"For everybody to do their part and get their animal vaccinated will help us keep the animals in rescues or at Metro Animal Services free from infections," says Saving Sunny Co-Founder Maureen Keenan.

"Just glad they have something like this to help people with their animals, especially for the people who can't afford it. It's nice. It's really nice," says Marion Wilson.

MAS officials estimate that less than 40% of the animals that come into their facility have been vaccinated ahead of time.
