LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Family members go back to an alley where a 15-year-old was shot and killed a year ago this weekend.

Candles were lit as family and friends walked down the alley where Andrew Elliott died. The 15-year-old was shot in the back after throwing rocks at a man's home in west Louisville.

Archie Ashley pleaded guilty in August to the shooting death and was sentenced to 15 years in prison.

Elliott's mother placed a cross at the site where he died and visits it occasionally.

"I really actually can't believe it's been a year because I remember it like it's yesterday, that I was getting that phone call that he got shot," says Elliott's mother, Kim Jarboe.

Under the plea agreement, Ashley, who is in his 60s, could get out in 12 years-- when he's in his 70s. Prosecutors didn't want to seat a jury in the case because some people believe they have the right to protect their property.
