Taylor Swift concert expected to add to downtown traffic congestion
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Officials at the KFC Yum! Center are warning people planning to attend Tuesday's Taylor Swift concert to allow plenty of time to get there.
Since the closure of the Sherman Minton Bridge on Sept. 9, traffic in the downtown area near the Clark Memorial Bridge has remained heavy well into the evening. With thousands of people converging to attend the concert, Tuesday could be a traffic nightmare for commuters and concert-goers alike.
Officials on both side of the river have said it could take six months to make repairs to the bridge, but some contractors bidding on the project have hinted that it could take as long as nine months to complete repairs.
The Sherman Minton Bridge normally carries an average of 80,000 vehicles per day.
