LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The family of a man accused of beating a 3-year-old boy to death says he didn't do it. Thirty-six-year-old Larry Webster pleaded not guilty to murder this morning in jail court.

Police say Webster beat his girlfriend's son so severely that he died from his injuries.

Webster's family showed up outside of the jail Tuesday morning and was fired up over the murder charge.

They say he had nothing to do with the child's death, and claim the child's mother may be the one responsible.

"The momma could've whooped the baby at night," said family Brian Tucker. "And he don't know the baby's whooped, put in the bed. He wakes up, she's gone to work, you know? You've got to investigate the momma."

Shively Police say the investigation is focusing on Webster.
