LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A firestorm of controversy is brewing around WDRB's newsroom. It has been hit with some serious accusations.

One viewer complained that he heard anchor Lindsay Allen use a racial slur on the air. That one complaint quickly turned viral.

"I stumbled, but what I said was this, he can blame the hot dog on some of his performances lately," says Allen.

But that's not what 19-year-old Anthony Graves thinks he heard. He called the station to complain, saying Lindsay used a hateful word to describe golfer Tiger Woods. WDRB News Director Barry Fulmer met with Graves Monday morning, and watched the video with him.

"If Lindsay or any other employee said something offensive on the air, they would no longer be employed at WDRB," says Fulmer.

Today, Lindsay said this to viewers who thought they heard something malicious: "Yesterday a viewer contacted us over a comment that I made during this newscast. I want to assure everyone that the comments I made were misunderstood. I do apologize, though, if any viewers were offended," said Allen.

However, Graves was still not satisfied. He contacted the NAACP and several other media outlets. The story hit the Internet, blogs, and has now gone viral.

"That word that I've been accused of saying is ugly, represents decades of hate, and it is a word I did not say and I will never say," says Allen.

Fulmer is adamant in his support of Allen.

"Lindsay has done nothing wrong and we want to be outspoken about that. I have spoken to many media outlets and the message is very clear that we support her 100%. We have nothing to hide. I want everyone to know that we are very transparent at what we do here at WDRB."
