FATHER: 15-year-old charged in my son's death should be executed

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The father of a 14-year-old murder victim says he wants the death penalty for the teen charged in the crime.

Those strong statements came as the suspect, 15-year-old Joshua Young, appeared in juvenile court Wednesday. Young is charged with the beating death of his stepbrother, Trey Zwicker.

Family members of Zwicker said the judge ruled that Young could be tried as an adult. Juvenile proceedings are normally closed to the media and public and Asst. Commonwealth's Attorney Leland Hulbert declined to comment on or confirm what happened.

Trey Zwicker's badly beaten body was found behind Liberty High School back in May. The boy's father, Terry Zwicker, says he wants "complete justice" for Trey – and that meant some strong words for Young, who is charged in connection with the murder.

Zwicker says he wants "justice." When asked to clarify, he said: "That would be a trial, a conviction and an execution."

Terry Zwicker says he's not sure if the death penalty will be considered, but he thinks it's appropriate.

Young's relatives say they've been told not to comment.

Authorities apprehended Joshua Young and his father -- Joshua Gouker -- in Alabama this summer on unrelated charges.

Gouker was initially released on bond, but Louisville police arrested him last week on an outstanding warrant. Gouker has never been implicated in the crime by police.
