Family gathers to remember murder victim five years later

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Five years after a young man is murdered, the case still isn't closed.

18-year-old Kyle Haywood was shot in 2006 on a quiet road in the Highlands.

Family and friends of gathered at Castleman Circle tonight in Cherokee Triangle near the scene of the crime to plead for anyone with information to come forward.

Police believe Haywood was shot after an argument. He was a college student who worked two jobs.

Family and friends gathered with candles and photos of Haywood, and say they just want some closure.

"We want to let them know that we haven't forgotten Kyle. Kyle was a very special person in our family. It's a big void in our life. We want to know what happened that night. We're hoping someone will come forward and let us know what happened," says Haywood's mother, Karen Haywood.

If you have any information on this case, call the anonymous tip line at 574-LMPD.
