LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Louisville man faces a charge of voyeurism after police say he followed a woman into a bathroom at a gas station and tried to record her from the next stall.

According to an arrest report, it happened on Sept. 21 at the Thornton's in the 2700 block of Fern Valley Road. That's where police say 26-year-old Abelardo Chofer Chavez followed a woman into the restroom and held his cellphone under her stall.

Investigators say the victim followed Chavez out of the stall and wrote down the license plate number of the vehicle he was driving. She then called police and gave them the information.

Officers located Chavez and the victim identified him as the person who tried to record her on a cell phone. He was arrested on an unrelated charge at the time, but police served a warrant on Oct. 14 for voyeurism.

Police say they have video surveillance showing Chavez entering and leaving the women's restroom while on his cellphone.
