LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Police say a Louisville suspect questioned his own intelligence after he and his accomplice were arrested for burglary.

It happened early Sunday, shortly after 1 a.m. Police say 19-year-old Brandon Connely and 18-year-old James Pulliam had broken into a home in the 100 block of Mackie Lane, in a subdivision east of Newcut Road. Officers were sent to the home after a possible break-in was reported.

When they got there, an officer discovered that a screen had been cut out of the window in the rear of the home. The officer also heard noises coming from inside the house.

Police set up a perimeter around the home, but there was no need. In a few moments, Connely and Pulliam came to the rear window and allowed police to take them into custody.

Police say one of them said, "I can't believe we are that stupid."

Both men allegedly told police that they were homeless and needed money. Police say Connely had a candy Pez dispenser in his hand and admitted to taking it from the home.

The pair were charged with burglary.
