New Albany Center for Women and Families gets new look
LOUISVILLE, KY. (WDRB) -- A fresh coat of paint brings a new look to the Center for Women and Families' New Albany shelter. It is the only shelter in Indiana to receive the Color Care Across America grant.
Benjamin Moore Paints is re-doing the interior of 50 shelters in 50 states in 50 days. The Center for Women and Families was selected by the National Conference of Mayors after Mayor Doug England submitted a nomination.
Rachel Ferazzi of the center says, "The walls have been transformed from this dark dreary place to a really light uplifting area. It definitely helps in the healing process."
And Mayor England says, "We did something right, and we're really proud of it because the recipients of this really deserve it."
Ron Mattingly Construction and PC Lumber and Hardware donated about three weeks and $40,000 in time and resources to the project.
