CORONER: Louisville child choked to death on push-pin

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Louisville Metro Police are conducting a death investigation at a Louisville daycare.

According to the Jefferson County Coroner's Office, the investigation is focused on Trina's Treehouse. Shortly before 2 p.m. Monday, 2-year-old Jacorey Davis was found "unresponsive" at the daycare.

He was taken to Kosair Children's Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 2:32 p.m. The cause of death is said to be the "complete obstruction of airway by a foreign object."

In this case, the "foreign object" is believed to have been a bulletin board push-pin.

The coroner's office can't say where the child ingested the push-pin, so it's not clear whether it happened at the daycare.
