Teen hurt in Ind. fair collapse returns to school

Posted: Updated:

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) -- A teenager left unable to walk after the Indiana State Fair stage collapse has returned to school for the first time.

Several friends and teachers greeted Brad Humphrey as he arrived Monday morning at Crispus Attucks High School in Indianapolis. Humphrey was the top player on the school's tennis team last year, but now uses a wheelchair after suffering a spinal injury in the Aug. 13 collapse that killed seven people and injured dozens more.

Humphrey tells WTHR-TV that he's excited about returning to class and that being around his friends will help him.

Friend Cassidy Howard says Humphrey's absence since the start of school was especially missed because only about 50 students are in their senior class.
