LOUISVILLE, KY. (WDRB) -- Police say a falling tree struck a man with such force that it partially buried him.
Jeff Topping, chief of detectives for Floyd Co. Sheriff's Dept. says the 78-year-old man and his son were trying to cut a tree when if fell. The son was able to call 911 and then get a tractor to pull the tree off his father.
The accident happened deep in a wooded area off Corydon Pike, west of New Albany Wednesday afternoon.
The sheriff's department says firefighters needed a four-wheel drive truck to navigate a rugged trail for a mile and a half just to reach the man.
Officers say the victim is seriously hurt and undergoing treatment at University Hospital. They have not released his name.
