LOUISVILLE, KY. (WDRB) -- A Kentucky miner is killed after being struck by a piece of machinery.  It happened in at the Hubble Mining Company Number 9 mine in Eolia, which is in Letcher County.

The miner, 47 year-old Jerry Britton of Pound, Va., died when a piece of equipment hit him in the underground mine.  He was a mine foreman.

State mine safety investigators are on the scene.  This is the seventh mining fatality in Kentucky this year. Kentucky Office of Mine Safety Director Johnny Greene wants to see more training and safety reminders for miners and mine operators.
