Nationwide Emergency Broadcast System test set for today

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, KY. (WDRB) -- A nationwide test of the Emergency Broadcast System is scheduled for 2 p.m. on Wednesday.

That means for the first time in history, every radio and TV station, and every cable and satellite operator will interrupt all broadcasts.

The drill is scheduled for one minute, but could last up to three minutes.

The test is designed to expose weaknesses in the 60-year old readiness alert system that has never been used--not even on 9/11.
