LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Every parent's worst nightmare is an every day reality for Lauren Spierer's mother and father.
The IU student is still missing five months after she vanished.
She was only 20, but she had been drinking with friends at a Bloomington bar, and was last seen walking home by herself.
One IU professor says that kind of access makes underage students vulnerable.
"Do you hear young students talking about getting into bars underage?" asks WDRB's Rachel Collier.
"No. They are very careful not to talk about that with me," says Professor Leah Shopkow.
"But you know it happens?"
" I know it happens, and it doesn't help that the campus is ringed with bars... literally ringed with bars. Every time you walk off campus there's a bar there."
IU is now taking action to tackle the situation, and keep other students safe.
WDRB's Rachel Collier sits down with campus officials Monday night at ten.
