LOUISVILLE, KY. (WDRB) -- The University of Louisville has received $1.1 million from the U.S. Department of Education.  The five-year grant funds the U of L Talent Search Program, which is expected to help more than 500 students at several JCPS schools.

The program is aimed at steering students toward academic enrichment courses, tutoring, career counseling, and financial aid.

U of L President James Ramsey says, "We will be working with students, parents, their guardians, and focusing on that important (idea), you can do it, you can go to college."

Schools participating in the program include Western Middle, Central, Fern Creek, Moore, and Shawnee High Schools.
