LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Police say an argument between a mother and daughter about food stamps ended with violence.

It happened around 2 p.m. Friday at an apartment in the 4900 block of Saddlebrook Lane. That's where police say 39-year-old Monique L. Jeffries and her daughter were arguing about food stamps. According to the police report, Monique Jeffries became "enraged" when her daughter, Debra Brown, opened her bedroom door.

The arrest report says Jeffries used a curling iron to burn Brown's arm several time as Brown tried to reach for a phone to call police.

According to the arrest report, Jeffries also punched Brown in the face several times, knocking out two teeth.

Jeffries left the apartment before police arrived but was arrested a short time later in the 1700 block of Lee Street.

She's charged with assault and intimidating a witness.
