The Matrix LIVE!
Thursdays through Saturdays, December 8th-10th, 15th-17th
7:30 p.m. showtime
Alley Theater
They've seen soaring highs and dreadful lows. They've been on top of the world, and they've known the bitter silence of obscurity. Now they're back - and once again, they're looking for…THE ONE. And they expect to find him at The Alley Theater in December!
It's "The Matrix LIVE!" (a parody) , a live-action tribute to the blockbuster genre-bending sci-fi thriller, "The Matrix"!
Taking a cue from Academy Award winner Kathryn Bigelow's recent smash stage production of her cult classic "Point Break," Andy and Larry Wachowski seek to reignite the cultural fervor the created in 1999. They've got their cast. They've got their crew. They think they have a way to do all their crazy "bullet time" green-screen effects before a live audience. And they're going to find their Neo…their Keanu…their Neanu, if you will - right here in Louisville.
Little do they know…they're going to get a lot more than they bargained for.
Come catch the next installment in the Alley's season-long sci-fi extravaganza! Free you mind (and your spirits a bit - cash bar!) at "The Matrix LIVE!" (a parody)
Tickets $18 in advance, $20 day of show. Special discounts for students, seniors, and military.

The Best Christmas Pageant Ever
December 8th-10th at 6:30 pm and on December 10th at 12:30 pm.

Just as she has it in hand, the Herdmans, "the worst kids in the history of the school" show up to complicate matters even more! Laughter reigns as mayhem abounds - the Herdmans run amuck, littlest angels show up in balloon-covered sheets, the Ladies Aid Society flies up in arms, and the church nearly burns down. And then wise men arrive, "like rich uncles from New Jersey," and in a single moment, a lesson is learned about love and the true meaning of the season, guaranteed to stay with us a long time beyond.

Angela has invited the estranged family of Klaus Klurman over for the holidays, and the sparks fly. It's the story of everyone's dysfunctional and often hilarious family!
The heart of this play lies just below the surface. It's not meant to be a deep study of character and human relationships. No one has the perfect family and that's what makes us all equal."

Bowhead Down: New Work by Vadis Turner
Opens Friday, November 4th - December 16th
5-9pm
Green Building
In this body of work, elements of ceremonial adornment are partnered with processes of decay. Satin ribbons and flowers are fixed in a stilled state of transition inspired by fire and mold. Like the subject of a rite of passage, they graduate from an old identity to a new identity. The works re-imagine the beauty and energy of change and loss. This show celebrates the state of in between.
Shortly after finishing school Turner began experimenting with media that connected to women's roles such as wax paper, panty hose, tampons and quilts. As of late, she has become "interested in the aesthetic bridges between diverse rites of passage. Elaborate ceremonies honor, idealize and purify the subject as they graduate from one life chapter to the next. The subject simultaneously embodies a climax and demise. A new identity is conceived. An old identity dies."

Now, 35 years later, the Frazier History Museum is giving it new life as "Rough Road," an exhibition featuring the striking photography of Wathen, Hower and Burke, along with artifacts and items from their photographic journey.
"Rough Road" serves as the centerpiece of a community-wide photography exhibition, the Louisville Photo Biennial. Other Photo Biennial venues include the University of Louisville's Hite Art Institute Galleries, Kaviar Forge and Gallery, Speed Art Museum, Kentucky Museum of Art and Craft, 21c Museum & Hotel, Mellwood Art Center, Louisville Visual Arts Association, and others. Civil War: My Brother, My Enemy
October 15th through April 8th, 2012
The Frazier History Museum
The War Between the States pitted brother against brother. Nowhere was this division more apparent than in the border state of Kentucky- where family lines were often the battle lines. The Frazier History Museum opens its newest exhibition, "Civil War: My Brother, My Enemy" on October 15, in conjunction with the 150th anniversary of the American Civil War.
"My Brother, My Enemy" examines how Kentucky's distinctive physical and political positioning led to deep and lasting divisions among families and friends. Unlike many other Civil War studies that tend to focus on the battlefield chronology, the 3,800 square foot exhibition delves into the heart-wrenching and personal stories of the nationwide conflict that forever severed once close-knit relationships here in Kentucky.
"My Brother, My Enemy" is an original exhibit produced by the Frazier Museum and features over 100 artifacts, most of which have never before seen by the public. Historical items include a casket wagon once used by Cave Hill Cemetery to reinter soldiers, an exceptionally rare enlisted soldier's uniform, slave documents and plantation horns, as well as a number of dresses, flags, surgical tools, horse tack, letters, photos and other personal objects, including the historically significant Mary Todd Lincoln collection.
The Frazier History Museum is open Monday through Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Sunday noon to 5 p.m. Museum admission is free for members and teachers, $9.50 for adults, $8 for military, $7.50 for seniors, $6 for children 5 to 17 and free for children 4 and under.
