LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Louisville Metro Police say they found a woman sitting in her car in a self-service car wash at 2:30 a.m. Sunday.
28-year-old Mary L. Critchelow of Ekron, Ky., was in her 1993 GMC Yukon at the car wash near the corner of Dixie Hwy. and Speedway Ave.
"It was below freezing (24 degrees at time of stop), so it was very unlikely she was using the car wash," police say.
When questioned about her activity, Critchelow allegedly told police she was "just using the Internet" and she was there because of a fight with her boyfriend.
Police say they quickly discovered that her driver's license had been suspended. They say she had also been drinking, and she refused to allow them to search her vehicle. When a K9 was brought to the scene, the dog allegedly indicated that there was an odor coming through the open driver's side window, and traced it to a center console.
Inside, the officer found a "purple Crown Royale bag" with a small bag of "suspected meth" inside, police say.
They also found a nearly empty vodka bottle and a drink that "clearly had vodka in it" that was sitting in the console, according to the arrest report.
She was arrested at the scene and charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of a license when privileges are revoked and possession of an open alcoholic beverage container in a motor vehicle.
