LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) –  Authorities are investigating the deaths of two women in a remote area of Oldham County. They released a statement early Monday saying they are treating it as a "death investigation."

Police were called to a home on 18 Mile Creek Road near Westport shortly after 3 p.m. Sunday. That's when they found the two women shot to death, as well as a man with a laceration to his arm. He is being treated at an area hospital.

This is not the type of case Oldham County police are used to dealing with. They say there are rarely any disturbances of any kind in this area, let alone something like this.

"This is a very rural area of the county. It's about five miles outside of the city of La Grange. We rarely do get calls in this area of the county," said Officer Justin Flynn.

Investigators aren't releasing names or ages of the victims, but several hours later, detectives were still combing the property.
