REELSVILLE, Ind. (AP) -- State Police say western Indiana police officers fatally shot a knife-wielding man who attacked one of the officers inside a home.

The Tribune-Star reports that 38-year-old William E. Williams of Reelsville was pronounced dead Sunday night at the shooting scene. An autopsy was scheduled to be performed Monday afternoon.

State Police say five police officers responding to a report of a possibly suicidal man found Williams locked inside a Reelsville home's bathroom about 7:30 p.m. Sunday, apparently cutting himself with a knife.

When officers unlocked the door, police say Williams came at them with a knife in each hand and forced a Putnamville police officer to the floor, cutting his hand with a knife. Police said three other officers then fired their weapons, fatally shooting Williams.
