LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The man who police say is a leader of a multi-state drug ring will need a million dollars to get out of jail.
Police arrested 32-year-old Reginald Forsythe on Brook Farm Place, near the intersection of Watterson Trail and Stony Brook Drive, after he ran from a traffic stop, his arrest report said.
He's was in court Friday to answer several drug related charges, including trafficking and being involved in a criminal syndicate.
Police say Forsythe is the "head of an organized crime group" involved in trafficking hundreds of kilos of methylone, as well as ecstasy, Opana and other prescription pills all over the U.S.
He is currently being held on a $1 million bond and is charged with trafficking in controlled substances and engaging in organized crime.
Police also arrested several other people, including Forsythe's girlfriend, 33-year-old Mohagany Calvin. She is charged with engaging in organized crime and hindering apprehension of a suspect.
Police arrested Antoine Gavin, 25, on Brook Willow Drive, near the original traffic stop. Officers say they smelled marijuana outside the vehicle and a K9 was called to investigate.
According to police reports, officers found a bag of marijuana inside a "Hello Kitty" bag. They also found a bag containing hundreds of tablets of ecstasy, Opana and hydrocodone. Additionally, police say they found liquid hydrocodone, along with syringes and numerous clear bags of suspected cocaine.
Gavin's been charged with trafficking in cocaine, Opana, controlled substances and possession of marijuana.
Police also arrested and charged Troy Morris, 33, with drug trafficking. They arrested Joseph Thompson, 34 in connection with the case; however Thompson's charges were not immediately available Thursday night.
Lt. Rich Pearson with the Metro Police Narcotics Unit explains, "They were coming from Detroit, and once they would've reached their destination in Louisville, they would've been distributed throughout Louisville Metro."
Police say Forsythe operated from Mohagany Calvin's home in the 4200-block of Brook Farm Place near Jeffersontown. Officers raided the home as part of their arrests on Wednesday.
Pearson said police seized drugs worth more than $100,000 estimated street value from the home. They included 1,491 Opana tablets and 5,106 hits of "mollies," a form of ecstasy, police said. In addition, officers seized a Bentley, a Porsche and other luxury vehicles from those arrested, worth an estimated $250,000.
Neighbors of the Brook Farm home say they suspected illegal activity at the home, based on the large numbers of luxury vehicles they had seen coming and going at all hours. But it took the arrests Wednesday to confirm their suspicions.
Pearson said neighbors cheered narcotics officers as they raided the place on Wednesday.
