LOUISVILLE, KY. (WDRB) -- Reports of a possible Amazon fulfillment center locating in southern Indiana are "speculative," according to two Indiana state senators.

Republican Sens. Ron Grooms of Jeffersonville and Luke Kenley of Noblesville issued a joint statement Wednesday on the matter, saying, in part, "Amazon has been a good corporate citizen in Indiana and their facilities here have created many jobs and business opportunities. We are hopeful that Amazon will consider further expansion in Indiana."

The senators also said, however, "We cannot comment on a private company's plans for expansion or construction of a new facility without actual knowledge of the situation."

And they said they wanted to make it clear that such a facility was not part of recent negotiations on sales taxes -- Amazon agreed to begin collecting Indiana's 7 percent sales tax in its online purchases.
