LOUISVILLE, KY. (WDRB) -- Protesters frustrated by the lack of action in Frankfort to stop mountaintop removal gathered in the state Capitol Rotunda Thursday. They protested the devastation they claim is caused by the removal of coal from the tops of mountains in eastern Kentucky.
Dressed as elected officials and industry executives, they square-danced as they exchanged dollar bills. They said that represented the economic stronghold corporate and public officials have on environmental causes.
Last year a half dozen people occupied the governor's office for several days to protest mountaintop removal.
