LOUISVILLE, KY. (WDRB) -- Louisville has reached a deal with Insight Communications that will put $3.5 million toward reducing the city government budget deficit.

This settlement agreement comes after a year of negotiations.  The deal means Insight customers will receive the same services and benefits.

It will stay in place until Time Warner buys out Insight, which could be in a matter of weeks. The city says the agreement will then be negotiated with Time Warner.

Schools and government buildings will continue to get cable at no charge.

Mayor Greg Fischer says he plans to work with Time Warner officials to keep a 1,500-job call center that Insight has in Louisville.
