LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) -- Kentucky Downs sees its "instant racing" machines as such a good bet that it wants to add more of the gaming terminals.

The Kentucky Horse Racing Commission is scheduled to consider the request at its meeting Wednesday afternoon.

The race track and simulcasting facility near the Kentucky-Tennessee border has offered "instant racing" since Sept. 1.

Kentucky Downs has 200 of the machines, which are based on a pari-mutuel wagering system. The machines resemble casino-style slot machines and show the final seconds of past horse races. Kentucky Downs has reported a big boost in betting revenue since the arrival of instant racing.

Now the track wants to add 75 more terminals.

The state gets 1.5 percent of the amount bet, and part of the money goes to boost racing purses.
