LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- An Ohio woman only made life harder on herself when she ripped up a police citation in front of the Louisville Metro Police officer who gave it to her, according to an arrest report.

Police say 20-year-old Danielle McKenzie of Fredericktown, Ohio, was originally stopped on the Gene Snyder Freeway shortly after 5 p.m. Tuesday for having two registration plates in the back window of a 2001 Chevy Cavalier.

Police say an Ohio temporary tag was partially covering an Indiana registration plate.

Upon questioning her, police discovered that McKenzie had no driver's license on her person, so the officer issued her a citation.

That's when McKenzie allegedly, "became irate and ripped up the citation in several pieces."

The officer then asked McKenzie to switch places with the passenger so the officer could verify the passenger's identification. Police say McKenzie responded by getting out of the vehicle, "screaming and cursing" at the officer in a threatening manner and causing alarm to other drivers.

McKenzie then reached into the seat and threw a cigarette butt at the officer, according to the arrest report.

The original citation was voided by the officer, "due to subject ripping it up."

A new citation was written up and McKenzie was arrested, because the officer suspected that she, "was not going to appear in court due to her actions."

She was charged with not having possession of her driver's license, menacing, disorderly conduct and improper display of registration plates.
