Private information left unattended at VA Hospital

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A potential security breach may have exposed the private information of patients at Louisville's VA Hospital.

Someone left social security numbers and other private information for more than 1,100 veterans unattended in the lobby last month.

Officials say once they were informed, they immediately secured the information.

Investigators do not think the information was misused or that any malicious activity was involved.

VA medical centers are required by law to disclose informational privacy breaches to the public.
