LOUISVILLE, KY. (WDRB) -- Louisville Metro Police have made an arrest in a gas station robbery Monday morning in which a clerk was shot. It happened around 5:30 at the Thorntons on Broadway and First Street.
38-year-old Kawan Farrar of East Orange, New Jersey was arrested moments later. A police report says Farrar waited in line awhile, then put on a "single hole" ski mask and pulled a handgun. The report says the clerk ran from the store and the robber chased her and ended up struggling with her. The robber fired, and the clerk was struck in her right leg below the knee.
The report says Farrar forced the clerk back into the store and demanded money.
The clerk was taken to University Hospital, and her injuries are not expected to be life-threatening.
Police questioned, then charged Farrar after chasing him down at Breckenridge and Floyd Streets. Besides Monday's robbery, he is also charged with robberies on Sunday at two Circle K stores, one on Third Street, the other on Arthur Street.
