Jeffersonville Animal Shelter offers support in tornado aftermath
The J.B. Ogle Animal Shelter is assisting with animal rescue and recovery in the tornado stricken areas of Clark County, Indiana.
"We've had an overwhelming response from so many people who want to help," said Animal Shelter Director Sarah Green who noted that the Indiana State Police are not allowing anyone in the area until Thursday. "We encourage people to contact us directly to retrieve any animals in the area. Also, if an owner is missing an animal they should contact the shelter director and refrain from visiting the area.
"We want to discourage anyone from looking for animals and taking them since it makes it very difficult for us to track animals down when their actual owners come looking for them," said Green. The J.B. Ogle Animal Shelter is located at 201 Willinger Lane in Jeffersonville and can be contacted at (812) 282-0071. It is open Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. and Saturday 11 a.m. until 3 p.m.
The shelter is also taking dog and cat food donations. The donations should be delivered to the shelter located at 201 Willinger Lane in Jeffersonville or to PetSmart on Veterans Parkway. Also, monetary donations can be made to the shelter's PayPal account at www.facebook.com/pages/JB-Ogle-Animal-Shleter or to Southern Indiana Animal Rescue at www.southernindianarescue.com.
