OUR TOWN: "My Old Kentucky Dinner Train" features gourmet dinner
The 37-mile round trip excursion lasts two and a half hours.
BARDSTOWN, KY. (WDRB) -- A huge attraction in Bardstown rolls through each week. "My Old Kentucky Dinner Train" features a gourmet dinner with "Kentucky Proud" products by Head Chef Gil Logan.
It's a 37-mile round trip excursion that lasts two and a half hours. With the economy picking up, the train is seeing an equal number of locals and out-of-towners. By April, the dinner train plans to have two runs a week.
As Chef Logan explains, "I'm going to take care of you like you are in my house -- that feel, that going back in time, slowing down a little bit, sitting back and watching the countryside roll by."
Some people go there for the so-called haunted train depot. Logan says apparently a man named Willie hung himself there years ago, then there was a fire.
The depot is the oldest all-limestone building in the state of Kentucky.
