Well, if there was any doubt that Tuesday's Point of View about the UPS commercial featuring the infamous Christian Laettner shot would stir up some reaction, wonder no more. We received  phone messages from over 70 people and would have had more if our voice mail hadn't reached capacity.

For the record, those who argued that UPS really was disrespectful to UK in airing the commercial were slightly outnumbered by those who agreed that it was time to just let it go. But that's really not important.

What is important is that we don't do Point of View to convince anyone of my opinion, but simply to stimulate discussion. And boy – were people ready to discuss that one. It's clear that the words "It's just a game" ring hollow with many folks who have a lifelong burning passion for Kentucky basketball. And hey – who am I to say they're wrong? They don't tell me where I should invest my emotions.

I do want to say however that if the shoe were on a different foot, and the aggrieved fan base was Louisville's or Indiana's, my opinion would have been the same. I still think 20 years is long enough to eat your heart out over a basketball game. But your mileage may vary.

In any case, thanks to all who called. That's what it's all about.

I'm Bill Lamb, and that's my…Point of View.
