LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Thunder Over Louisville is sixteen days away, but local folks got a behind-the-scenes taste of what's to come on Thursday night.
The Thunder Preview Party gave families a chance to go inside some of the planes that will be in this year's show.
Some even went sky-high in helicopters.
Kids could enter the command center and hold the launch key used to set off the fireworks.
"It's all about the family. So there's activities here for the kids to do, but it also gives them a chance to meet and greet a lot of the military people and other people who are involved in the show," says Thunder Over Louisville Producer Wayne Hettinger.
Air Boss Mike Riordon adds, "I think you're gonna see a Thunder this year that has elements that you've not seen before, has aircrafts that you've not seen before, and there will be surprises around every corner."
This year's Thunder theme is "A Star Spangled Blast."
You can watch Thunder Over Louisville Saturday, April 21st right here on WDRB.
